Stopwatches play a crucial role in measuring the runtime of Japanese animation productions. We have recently developed and released “Griffith Stopwatch”, a web application designed specifically for animation production.
This web app is the result of research and development conducted by our research team, Arch Research, under the supervision of Director Kazuya Murata, who also serves as a consultant for our storyboard creation tool, “Griffith”.
・It features large text at the top and a display unique to digital devices that allows you to intuitively track the progress of seconds and frames.
・You can pause or resume the stopwatch by tapping anywhere on the display, allowing you to operate it without looking at the screen.
・The display includes a large “Reset” button at the bottom, which is considerate of both left- and right-handed users.
・Tapping the text display copies the current seconds and frames, allowing you to easily paste them into other applications.
・Clicking the green icon in the top-left corner allows you to customize settings beyond the most common option (24 fps), such as 30 fps and 60 fps.
・Customized settings are saved in the web app’s URL, making it easy to share them with collaborators.
We hope to continue updating the app based on feedback from industry professionals.
It requires no installation and is free to use, so please give it a try.
